Next Meeting


Saturday February 18, 2017

 Our next meeting will be on February 18th, 2017 at Waldie's Blacksmith Shop in Milton. As always, the meeting will start at 10am and is open to members and nonmembers alike.

Megan Carter, the 2016 OABA Scholarship winner, will be demonstrating what she learned on her course with Tom Latane. Specifically, she will be demonstrating how to forge a post vise.

Bring your lunch, chair, safety glasses, something for Iron In the Hat.

Bob Cook, former OABA president, will be tailgating a very large assortment of blacksmith tools (tongs, hammers, fullers, punches, hot sets, swages), hand shear, post vice, 350lb anvil.

The Ontario Artist Blacksmith Association is a group of professional and part time blacksmiths, as well as others who are interested in the field. Some members have a great deal of experience, while others have only a little.

For the public, we seek to promote the work and trade of blacksmithing, both traditional and modern, as a high quality, creative craft and affordable art form which has a growing place in modern society. YPRES 2016 - International Blacksmithing Event - September 1-6, 2016

Sandra Dunn, Master Blacksmith from Kitchener, Ontario represents Canada, September 1 - 6, 2016, helping to creating a WWI Cenotaph in Ypres, Belgium. She forges her Master Design Panel in Ypres, Belgium on September 5 and 6, 2016.

It is truly a GLOBAL Event with Master Panel Designs by Blacksmiths from: Canada, Chile, UK, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Norway, Italy, USA, Czech Republic, South Africa, Scotland, Netherlands, Japan, Australia, Palestine, China and participants to help bring them to life from a few more Countries I am sure.
